The residency takes place on private land that is 3.2 Hectares. m wide,
the beach is right in front and the mangroves/ lagoon at the back.
We have a fully equipped studio, workshop, kitchen, communal spaces, garden
and are constantly growing to better our space with many projects in the works.
How to Find Us
FROM MAZUNTE AREA TO PUERTO ESCONDIDO
You can take a colectivo from town until San Antonio or Pochutla, it costs 15 to 20 pesos.
From there you can take a camioneta or a bus to Puerto Escondido (azul smtg company). They pass frequently and if you are somewhere by the highway 200, the driver will let you hop in if there is space. It costs around 60 to 80 pesos.
FROM PUERTO ESCONDIDO TO ARTE Y ARENA
In Puerto Escondido, you can take the urban bus all the way to Zapotalito’s taxi terminal that is next to the main road. The urban terminal in Puerto Escondido is called Union De Transportes Rio Grande, and is located at this adress : Agua Azul 13-302, Agua Marina, 71984 Puerto Escondido. The urban passes very frequently.
Once in Zapotalito, you have to take a taxi comunitario to el paradero de Don Eustolio, it costs 25 pesos (the price might change depending on how many people there is).
From there, take the lancha comunitaria (a boat) to El Banco de Roca de Chacahua (be careful that people are going to propose you to go to the center of Chacahua for 300 pesos but that is not where you are going). The lancha costs 50 pesos, it leaves every hour from 6 am to 6 pm.
At the Banco de Roca, you will take a pesejera or camioneta (public transport in Chacahua) for 20 pesos and you have to tell the driver to stop at Matteo’s Arte y Arena. Be aware that you might have to remind them to drop you at the right place, and to be sure of where you are once on the island, a good idea would be to download Chacahua’s map (easy to do with Google Maps) on your phone as there is no connection here.
